Lido di Venezia, 8 September – The Soundtrack Stars Award 2023 goes to “Io capitano” by Matteo Garrone for the best soundtrack among the films of the official selection at the 80th Venice Film Festival. This was decided by the Jury of the Prize that today awarded the composer Andrea Farri, author of the music of the film (published by Sony Music Publishing) in theaters with 01 Distribution and produced by Archimedes with Rai Cinema and Tarantula, Pathé and Logical Content Ventures.
“A journey – we read in the motivation – that turns on the film of emotions and feeling accompanying the ‘color’ of a story that crosses the ethnic sounds of Senegalese percussion as the poignant notes that evoke memories of the distant land. A musical research that recovers tradition but gives the dream and adventure of the two young protagonists also the rhythm of rap.”
The prize of the year goes to Levante, instead, for having edited for the first time the soundtrack of the film “Romantiche” by Pilar Fogliati with the song “Leggera”, entirely written by the singer-songwriter and produced by Daniel Bestonzo and Antonio Filippelli, that fits perfectly with the plot of the film.
The Subsonica, however, were awarded the special Soundtrack Stars Award for the music of Adagio by Stefano Sollima (Venice 80/ Competition). For Subsonica a return to the cinema in the soundtrack perfectly tuned to the narrative rhythm of Stefano Sollima’s film.
Soundtrack Stars Award, conceived and produced entirely by Free Event, agency that has been a protagonist in the music industry for years, which celebrated its tenth anniversary last year, is the Collateral Prize of the International Film Festival, promoted with Italian Film Journalists (SNGCI), which enhances music in cinema in its key role, essential in the production of a film, from authentic protagonist among the performers of the set. And the soundtrack that the award chooses each year among the films in the Official Competition of the Show can turn into an authentic screenplay in the script, a script written with notes that accompanies and enhances the emotions of each story.
